Late last year I blogged about a federal court ruling that declared a portion of the clergy housing exclusion to be unconstitutional. On January 24, 2014, a challenge to that ruling was filed by what some might consider an unexpected source—the Justice Department.

The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) reports that the appeal means the ruling “will have no immediate impact on clergy who receive a housing allowance.” For more details, read the ECFA news release.
