News of a bug in Microsoft’s popular browser Internet Explorer (IE) has personal computer users concerned. Forbes reports that “a sophisticated hacker group has already been exploiting the flaw in a campaign dubbed ‘Operation Clandestine Fox’, which targets US military and financial institutions.”

The danger is that anyone using IE could have their PC compromised if they visit a hostile website. The good news for ECCU members is that this vulnerability does not affect servers such as those used at the credit union, which means members can safely use IE to visit the ECCU website.

Until Microsoft is able to fix this bug, it’s best to use a browser other than IE for general browsing. For more information, visit this Department of Homeland Security-sponsored website.
